Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, The Openserve Network has been build to withstand some levels of load shedding, however some areas may be impacted by extended outages in the areas where the exchange is situated.  You will still need to power your  router & Fibre ONT with an inverter or mini UPS for your connection to work during loadshedding.

A 8800mah Mini Router UPS can usually power the equipment for up to 4 hours depending on to power consumption of your router.  If you don’t have one, you can order a mini UPS from our client portal.

If the Openserve equipment is already on site, activation can take place within 3 to 7 Working Days. If there is no equipment on site you will need to allow up to 4 weeks for installation. Please be sure to place your order in line with these requirements.

Unless otherwise stated, we do not impose any minimum period, however if your service is active less than 12 Months we may ask you to cover the cost to return the router and settle the outstanding portion of the installation fees, if we paid any on your behalf.

While you may move to a new house, the line is linked to a location and a new installation would need to be paid for the new house and any contract periods would start again from the beginning.

As an internet provider we may have offered you discounts, or paid some costs to the network operator on your behalf, such as installation fees, Activation fees or the cost to supply you with equipment such as a router. We reserve the right to claim these costs back in full from you should you cancel the service within the specified clawback period.

Openserve Fibre requires a minimum of 30 days notice period to cancel or terminate a service. Processing of cancellation requests can take up to 1 business day, and as such we recommend letting us know as early as possible to ensure that you are not left with a bill for a service you cant use.
You may give us notice up to 3 months in advance should you know your service should stop on a specific date.

Free-to-use means that we supply you with a Wi-Fi enabled router to connect to the fibre ONT, allowing you to access the internet for your duration as a customer. You are however responsible for insuring and safe guarding the router from damage, and must cover the cost to return the router to us (in original condition) should you terminate your services in less than 12 Months. After 12 we will collect it from you for free.
